Dear Parent(s),
There have been some changes to our school calendar for May. We will not have school on Tuesday, May 6. Since we are out that day, we will make it up on Friday, May 23; this will be our last day of school. Also, since we dismissed early for severe weather on April 2, we are going to have to make up some minutes. Therefore, beginning Monday, April 21, classroom instruction will begin at 7:40 a.m. instead of 7:50 a.m.

Mrs. Haynie's Personal Finance Spring semester class participated in the Stock Market Game during the Spring Semester 2025 through Economics Arkansas. This game is a national program of the SIFMA Foundation that allows students and teachers to invest a virtual $100,000 in stocks, bonds, and mutual funds throughout an engaging 13-week simulation during the spring semester (January 6-April 11). Arkansas is divided into 6 regions for Senior High (10th-12th Grades). The first-place regional winner is only recognized at a statewide awards luncheon.
Kihren Block, a Prescott High School Sophomore, is the regional winner out of 118 regional participants from other schools in our region. He is invited to a luncheon to honor him on Thursday, May 1st, at the Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock. Kihren will receive $125 cash, a medalion, a certificate, and a tour ticket to the Clinton Presidential Library for being the Regional Winner.
Congratulations to Kihren Block!!
What a semester for learning about the market!

Breanna Haddix has been selected to participate in the 2025 Hutton Junior Fisheries Biology Program. The Hutton Junior Fisheries Biology Program is an eight-week paid summer internship and mentoring program for high school students sponsored by the American Fisheries Society (AFS). Its vision is to stimulate interest in fisheries and aquatic science among underrepresented groups in the profession today. Participating students receive a $3,000 stipend and hands-on experience with fisheries professionals. This program will allow Miss.
Haddix will work with an Arkansas Game and Fish Commission mentor, Mr. Dylan Hann. This opportunity results from Breanna’s goal-setting, initiative, dedication, perseverance, and patience. After sharing her goals with her Family and Consumer Sciences teacher and Ouachita Baptist University-Upward Bound satellite instructor, Mrs. Linda Benton, Breanna was encouraged to contact the Game and Fish Commission. After making connections, she was given the opportunity to shadow Mr. Hann. He informed her of opportunities and scholarships available. In November 2024, Breanna submitted her application. Breanna is a graduating senior at Prescott High School with a 3.7 grade point average. After high school, Breanna plans to attend Southern Arkansas University and major in Wildlife Conservation Biology with a minor in Entrepreneurship. As a leader, she is a six-year member of the Wolf Pride Band and serves as the trumpet section leader. She is a four-year member of Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, where she served as chapter president and Arkansas Association Region V Vice President of Membership and Community Service. Under her leadership, the chapter hosted the Chamber Community Coffee, set up a booth for Trick or Treat on Elm Street, and prepared a meal for Veterans on Veterans Day. She also organized a food drive for the local food bank. Breanna also serves as a Senior Class Representative.
Breanna lives in Emmet, Arkansas, with her mom, stepdad, and two younger siblings. Breanna frequently volunteers with the Emmet Vision Association (EVA). EVA is a group of ladies in her community that plan and coordinate events like the Emmet Fall Festival and Fourth of July Celebration. During the Martin Luther King, Jr Weekend, Breanna earned six hours of community service by volunteering at the Community Health Fair in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
