Prescott School District launched and completed another milestone benefiting our children this morning at the ribbon cutting for the district’s new solar system. This project is a solar system consisting 1,685 panels that will save the district thousands of dollars on utility bills. The project will more than pay for itself with the savings.
This morning Superintendent Robert Poole welcomed and thanked everyone for coming. He especially thanked the city for supporting the project and the Prescott electric department who worked tirelessly to make this project possible.
Superintendent Poole is excited that the amount of money saved with this solar project will allow millions to be put back into education for our students.
Bill Halter, with Scenic Hill, thanked Superintendent Poole for doing this project. Mr. Halter said the district will save approximately $80,000 in the first year and $3.8 million over the next 30 years allowing the district to invest more money into its students and teachers. He added that Prescott School District is one of a few school districts in the state to go solar. Mr. Halter commended Superintendent Poole for his leadership of the district which paved the way for this initiative.
Scenic Hill traditionally gives back to their clients and their communities and will be donating $5,000 to provide a book for each 3, 4, 5 and 6 year old student in the district a book.
Superintendent Poole cut the ribbon officially announcing the districts solar system alongside fourth grade students from the district as well as other school and community members . Although it was hot, he patiently cut ribbon several times for the students.
