There was a packed house tonight at the 1st Annual OYEA banquet. This program would not be possible without the generous support of the community and surrounding areas. Prescott School District is beyond grateful for all the people that have a hand in making our school barn, the Animal Science program and OYEA the best it can be for our kids. We appreciate the support given to our students and the program tonight!

Pearl Bailey and Linda Benton, satellite teachers for Ouachita Baptist University TRIO Programs and volunteers Remona Block and RaShalla Young accompanied students from their respective schools of Prescott Junior High and Prescott High School Talent Search group, to Ouachita University on Wednesday evening, October 5, for their annual 2022 Tiger Tunes event. Before Tiger Tunes, students were guests in “The Commons”, Ouachita’s cafeteria, where they were treated to a variety of gastronomic delights that many had not previously enjoyed. This year was the 44th Tiger Tunes’s annual event sponsored by the Ouachita Student Foundation (OSF), which is a student-led organization with the mission of “ students helping students.” The money from the four-day event goes toward student scholarships. During the event, several students addressed the audience and stated that getting scholarships from the OSF helped them to continue their education “without having to get additional loans.” - Pearl Bailey

Ms. Pearl Bailey’s social studies class at Prescott Junior High observed Constitution Day, September 17, 1787, and Constitution Week, September 17 -23. This is an annual event that is observed by the United States of America and is set aside for most students in U.S. social studies. Our students observed Constitution week by celebrating the 235th anniversary of the signing of this document. They analyzed the Preamble of the Constitution and recited it in class, individually or with a classmate. They discussed and examined the first three articles to the Constitution which established the Legislative, Executive and the Judicial Branches. Special thanks to the local Benjamin Culp Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for donating U.S. flag pins, summary sheets of the Constitution, booklets, and a poster to display in class. Eighth grade students will take an in-depth look at the Constitution later in the semester by studying all of the articles.
