Prescott Nevada County Citizen of the Year

Robert Poole, Superintendent of the Prescott School District, received the honor of 2019 Citizen of the Year at the 2019 Prescott Nevada County Chamber of Commerce Banquet on Thursday night.  

Howard Austin, the 2018 recipient, introduced Poole.  Austin said the award was designed to recognize those for their honor and sacrifice of time and effort for the betterment of the Prescott and Nevada County community.  Many are nominated and it is not an easy job to decide who will receive this honor.  

Robert Poole is a dedicated citizen of Prescott and Nevada County serving this community in many capacities.  Robert was born and raised in Prescott. After graduating from Prescott High School, he left for a short time to continue his education at Ouachita Baptist University where he walked on the football team.  His hard work and dedication at an early age was recognized by his peers who voted for him to receive the Tiger Leadership Award. He began his career in education but his goal was always to return to Prescott, the community he loved.  Prescott is the place he wanted to live, work and raise his children.

Family is a top priority for Robert.  He plays an active role in his son and daughter’s education and extracurricular activities.  Robert is a volunteer coach for all sports that they participate in at the local and state level.  He has volunteered to coach peewee baseball, softball, basketball and football. He currently volunteers to help coach Prescott Jr High baseball during the summer and a travel ball team on the weekends.  

Robert is a member of Park Missionary Baptist Church where he honorably serves as a deacon, is Sunday school superintendent as well as Sunday school teacher for high school students.  He is the Wednesday night youth director. He also is a fill in for the pastor when needed.

Robert is a dedicated servant for this community.   He is presently a member of the Prescott Nevada County Chamber of Commerce Board serving for the past 9 years.  He plays an active role on chamber planning committees for the chamber banquet, scholarship, fall festival and other community activities.  Robert attends community coffees and ribbon cuttings to support local businesses. He is a current member of the Prescott Kiwanis Club where he served as past President, helps with various annual events and presents at the Kiwanis Honor Banquet at Prescott School District.   

Being superintendent of Prescott School District, Robert works tirelessly to better our community.  He campaigns to bring school events such as district, regional and state tournaments to our school to help boost the city and county economy.      

Robert served as a Justice of the Peace on the Nevada County Quorum Court for 4 years.  He was a member of the Nevada County Leadership Class of 2009. He currently serves on the Nevada County Economic Development Board.    

Robert is the Arkansas Activities Association Regional President.  He is a member of the Southwest Arkansas Educational Cooperative Board of Directors where he was past president.  He is a Arkansas Association of School Administrators board member for the past 3 years where he has served as treasurer and currently serves as secretary.  He is also serving on the Arkansas Association of School Administrators and the Arkansas Association of Educational Administors board.

Robert was appointed by the governor to serve on a special committee concerning educational issues.  He recently attended the 2019 Superintendents Symposium in Little Rock where he lead an advocacy session for education.  He also visited with the governor advocating for the education of all Arkansas students.

Robert firmly believes that offering students the best education possible is the key to the success of our community.  He has completely dedicated much of his life to the betterment of Nevada County and Prescott. He looks after the most integral part of this community on a daily basis with much pride.

Robert is Prescott and Nevada County’s biggest advocate.  It is where his heart is. It is the place he chose to raise his family and is proud to call home.  You will not find a better nominee for the 2019 Citizen of the Year.  Nor anyone that loves and takes pride in their community more than Robert Poole.

Prescott School District is truly blessed to have a leader so passionate about his school and putting students first.  He was beyond words when he received the honor.  Robert thanked his mom and dad for instilling in him how important hard work and caring and respecting others was.  He spoke of the people in the room more worthy than he.   He was humbled and honored that he was the recipient of such an award.  Our Curley Wolf leader is most deserving!  Congratulations Robert Poole for being named 2019 Citizen of the Year!
